History

Country Club Tasmania first opened its doors in 1982 and the Launceston casino offers guests a boutique experience spread across two separate gaming floors. Following sister property Wrest Point in Hobart, Launceston’s casino became Tasmania’s second to open, and Australia’s third.

Personal Review

When living in Launceston I was very thankful that there was a casino even though the city is quite small, and being a poker player after online poker was shut down in Australia, I loved being able to play poker here.

I think the hotel needs a lot of updating to make the look more appealing but recently the casino has been going through some small refurbishments so hopefully they will look at the hotel soon.

Due to the huge money maker the pokies are taking over more and more of the table games area, and because of this during the week there could be only a few table games open. But luckily on weekends they open all the tables and there is always a seat available if wanted.

I may be a little bias due to living in Launceston but it is a nice addition to your trip if travelling through Tasmania. Just remember that it’s a small casino in a small city.
